Thumbnail drawings 6

I decided to use charcoal as it shows a clear distinction between dark and light tones. I felt I could be more fluid using the tip and the side of the charcoal to block in the shadows and texture. I particularly liked some of the rock texture I managed to gain with a softer tone using the side surface. Some of the compositions show a clear understanding where the light would enter the space and highlight the objects in it's path and where the shadows would form. In my final set of thumbnails I will use chalk to look at much bolder colours drive the compostions to became more like the fantasy environments that Jules Verne envisioned.
