Yanick Dusso

Yanick Dusso has produced concepts for Lord of the Rings, Star Wars Episode 3, War of the Worlds, Peter Pan, Star Trek, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dungeons and Dragons and many others. I like these concepts because there is a theatrical movie feel because of the amount of detail, the use of lighting and the description of the environment through a specific camera angle and the scale of set pieces. All these images feel dramatic and captured a frozen scene in time. The images with more depth of shadow are effective because it block out a lot of the detail expect for the spaces hit by a spotlight, this technique still describes how big a space is and how it is structurally formed. The below image is inspiration for the coast scene in the extract because it describes storm clouds and perilous seas but this particular image is more over dramatic with the whirlpool in the center.
