I began with a page of some creatures that I thought might work within the story, trying to characterize them. I decided it was a choice between the Beluga whale and the Mantee because they have the cute vunerable appearance. I chose the Beluga Whale because it has dolphin - like appearance and had a lot of character potiential with the bump and small beak.
These are four sketches focussing on the Beluga whale, I prefer the top right sketch as it defines the cute and vunerable qualities of the animal as well as emphasizing the bump and animal's blubber. I will develop this design further and think more of it's physical apperance to refine it.
