I have chosen to look at Avatar and what has influenced it in terms of 3D digital animation and motion capture used in film. I will then explore how Avatar has created an entire CG world for the characters and creatures to interact with, which is a huge advancement of technology compared to gollum or transformers that were slotted into the real world through green screening
In terms of ideas in the lecture program, I will reexplore Freud's theory of the uncanny and link this to the Navi and avatars that were designed to look like the actors that played them as a humonoid alien expressing familiar reactions and movement performance. I will also develop this idea with the lecture of Frankenstien with the avatar program that mixed human and avatar DNA with how Frankenstein is a mix of multiple people and explore the similarities and differences.
