I looked at the PDF 'Fun with a Pencil by Andrew Loomis' and he has a completely different view of creating characters than the previous one I looked at because he actually looks at basic 2D shapes that he then builds up and develops before adding the finishing touches. I had a go at the faces and framework tutorial to feel more comfortable with drawing quick figures. Below I have included a page on expressions that I found and may come in useful when I draw my character sheets.
