Cell models Version 1

With new concept ideas for the cell, I began to model what they could possibly look like in 3D and the bottom two show the progress of the alive and dead version of the cell so far. I am happy with the alive cell because it is a simple design but the dying cell has a lot of complicated geometery at the moment so I think I need to remodel this to try and find a way of constructing this form much more simply.

Influenza Model version 1

I decided to have a go at modelling the Influenza as I already knew how I wanted it to look and needed to experiment with how the geometery would give me the organic form in my idea.

Geometery WIP

I experimented with a variety of shapes, manipulating them to work out what worked better to understand how I could make the forms needed.

Unsmoothed Model

The basic unsmoothed model took a lot of twicking so that the anatomy didn't appear too symmetrical but felt it was started to come together. I used my original concept as a guide of how I wanted the model to look.

Smoothed Model
This is the wireframe and untextured model as it stands and I am happy with the result so far and is starting to resemble of how I wanted to envision the influenza. I still need to work back and make some refined adjustments to improve some of the geometery further.

Modelling objects for final scene

I have created objects that I know will appear in the final scene, I looked back at some of the research images I collected for inspiration of styles. I modelled multiple styles for the door and light because I am not sure at this stage which one I will use, I will now model the final scene according to the final concept I produced.

Experimenting on Maya Patient's bed

This was a quick model experiment based on an idea I had seen in my research, I liked the idea of the belts restraining the patient so included this into the design. I experimented with lighting because the above image with the spotlight was too dark so I tried a directional and area light. I particular like the below image with the area light because the object has more depth and reflections. I also tried to improve the model during renders because the pillow was too small and the belts needed to be tighter. I didn't like the belts in the second image so reverted back to the loose grip Indicating that the patient is not there.

Experimenting on Maya mirror

I experimented with a desk mirror as I am still not sure on a specific type so I looked at contemporary examples for influence of shape and design. The above image was a trail render looking at glass without the frame but I decided this didn't work so included a silver frame to match the support and base. I will look at ways of developing from this example adding more style and designs into it and practice modeling wall mirrors.
